Venetian Plaster Feature Wall in Glenrothes, Fife
Updated: 18 hours ago
This dining-room feature wall in Glenrothes, Fife, was finished in Arte Style Venezia Stucco, a polished decorative plaster, with a bespoke metallic wax design. The aim of this kind of finish is to give a wall depth and movement rather than a single flat colour. The metallic detailing changes in appearance as light falls across the polished surface.

Arte Style Venezia Stucco with metallic wax detailing
The main surface is hand-applied polished stucco. Metallic wax is then used to develop the design and pick out movement in the finish. Unlike a printed pattern, the detailing is worked into the surface, giving the wall its own character. The contrast between the polished areas and the metallic accents is particularly effective where lighting can catch it from different angles.
A statement finish for a dining room
Here, the finish was used as a feature wall behind the dining area. The darker, reflective surface works against the lighter adjoining walls, allowing the plaster and metallic detailing to become part of the room's overall design. A single feature wall is often enough to introduce a strong decorative finish without covering every wall in the space.
The exact movement, colour and level of sheen in polished plaster can be developed around an interior. This is why we work with samples: a smaller reference helps establish the direction before the finish is created at full scale. As a hand-applied surface, the final pattern has natural variation rather than an identical repeated design.
