At Brows & Co in Edinburgh, we worked in collaboration with Reise Interiors to create a range of hand-applied finishes throughout the salon. The work brought together Beri Calce Marmorino Venetian plaster and Forcrete microcement, with each used across different parts of the interior.

Our scope included the Venetian plaster feature wall and reception desk, alongside microcement shelving, wash-up area walls and worktop, and a custom planter. It was a project that took decorative finishes beyond a single feature wall and into the fitted details of the salon.

Venetian plaster at reception

The Marmorino feature wall forms the backdrop to the Brows & Co lettering and the three glass pendant lights. The Marmorino finish has subtle tonal movement, with the warm lighting bringing out the variation across the surface.

We also applied Venetian plaster to the reception desk. Its curved edge gives a different view of the finish, showing how the surface works around a shaped piece of furniture as well as across a broad wall. Together, the desk and feature wall establish the material palette as you enter the salon.

Microcement across the working areas

Forcrete microcement was used on the shelving and on the walls and worktop of the wash-up area. Here, the lighter finish sits alongside a black sink and tap, dark cabinetry and an illuminated mirror.

The photographs show both the overall wash-up area and the closer surface detail. Light around the curved mirror picks up the texture of the hand-applied finish, while the worktop carries the material across the horizontal surface around the sink.

A custom microcement planter

The custom planter was another part of our microcement work. The finish follows its rounded outline and broad upper edge, framing the planting and pale stones. This detail shows a different application of the same material, away from the walls and worktop.

Working with Reise Interiors

The collaboration with Reise Interiors brought several finishes together within one commercial space. Our role was the specialist surface application: Marmorino to the feature wall and desk, and Forcrete microcement to the shelving, wash-up area and planter.

The resulting interior combines darker decorative plaster, lighter textured surfaces, timber detailing and warm lighting. The project is an example of how bespoke plaster and microcement can be carried through several elements of a salon fit-out.
